The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority’s (OETA) newest arts and culture show, Gallery America, airs its second episode Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. CT on OETA-HD. Oklahoma painter Brent Learned is the featured artist for the episode.

Learned’s Native American subject matter features contemporary flair with color and context. The Cheyenne-Arapaho tribe member’s passion and talent have landed his pieces in galleries all over the nation, including the Smithsonian.

The show also visits Santa Fe, New Mexico, to meet a pioneer of the staged photography movement where Nic Nicosia has turned his genre on its collective ear. Californian artist Kevin Mount makes the most of a disability that might leave most sitting on creativity’s sidelines. Then, it’s all the way back to the East Coast where the head of French paintings at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. introduces a virtually unknown painter who may have helped start the entire impressionist movement.
