Summer Learning 2022

PBS LearningMedia Content Collections

The purpose of providing these content collections as a means of summer learning is to assist teachers, families, and students with supporting education throughout the summer in the home environment.

Each collection below provides a series of media-based learning activities curated by grade level to keep learners engaged throughout the summer months. All that is needed is a free PBS LearningMedia account.

Parents and teachers can visit the link below to set up accounts for themselves and/or their children.

Early Childhood (Pre K - 2nd Grade)
Whether you're looking for music and dance activities, science experiments, family-friendly adventures, or learning about animals (plus more!), you will find media and activity resources in the Camp PBS LearningMedia collection. We’ve gathered fun, exploratory resources for you to use as you plan summer fun. This collection of resources leverages fun, educational activities to include in your daily schedule, as well as resources to help seed ideas for introducing topics to your campers. Happy exploring!

Elementary (3rd – 5th grade)
Top 10 Summer Reads for Grades 3-5 | What would summer be without the fantasy, mystery, and adventure of a great book? Kick off your Summer of Reading with one of these summer reads selected by PBS LearningMedia staff!

Elementary (3rd – 5th grade) - Math Mess
A "Math Mess" is an everyday problem that requires an inquisitive mind, determination, and a little number sense to solve. Math Messes can pop up when you least expect them — and in each short, animated Math Mess video, you’ll meet some mathematically-challenged characters who are right smack in the middle of one.

Middle (6th - 8th grade) and High School (9th - 12th grade)
Keep the spirit of curiosity alive this summer and explore all the ways learning exists in everyday activities. Find resources that encourage students in grades 6-12 to spend the summer asking questions, spinning stories, and exploring all the ways that learning can be fun.

Teacher Professional Development
Our Virtual Professional Learning Series is created for teachers—by teachers—to bring together content experts and educators from all backgrounds. With an emphasis on fun, engaging, accessible, and free tools for classrooms, these bite-sized opportunities are designed to connect educators with each other, and PBS shows, themes, and content. With topics ranging from history to digital engagement, educators will find something they need to enhance their practice and perspective. Upon completion, PBS provides a certificate of attendance for each one-hour virtual professional learning event.
