OETA Names Sally Ray as Vice President of Development

Oklahoma City, OK (April 7, 2025) — The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) is proud to announce the appointment of Sally Ray as its new Vice President of Development. A nationally recognized nonprofit and philanthropy executive with deep roots in Oklahoma, Ray brings more than two decades of leadership in fundraising, strategic development, and community-focused engagement.

Ray joins OETA following her tenure as Director of Domestic Funds at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, where she led the organization’s U.S.-based disaster recovery portfolio, overseeing more than $45 million in annual grantmaking. Under her guidance, the center saw exponential growth in donor engagement and revenue, significantly advancing philanthropic support in response to natural disasters, pandemics, and humanitarian crises across the country.

“Sally is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of building partnerships, growing revenue, and creating meaningful, lasting impact,” said OETA Interim Executive Director Shawn Black. “Her passion for public service and visionary approach to philanthropy make her the ideal person to lead OETA’s development strategy into the future.”

Ray’s previous leadership experience includes senior development roles at the American Red Cross in Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, and YMCA organizations in both Oklahoma City and Arlington, Texas. She has consistently delivered innovative fundraising strategies, driven major gift programs, and built cultures of philanthropy wherever she has served.

“OETA plays a vital role in Oklahoma by providing trusted news, educational programming, and cultural enrichment to communities across the state,” said Ray. “It’s an incredible honor to join this team and help secure the resources that will sustain and grow that mission.”

A native Oklahoman and graduate of Oklahoma State University, Ray is an alum of Leadership Oklahoma City and Leadership Arlington, a former president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Oklahoma Chapter, and a recipient of The Journal Record’s Achievers Under 40 honor.
