OETA Hosts Free Family Screening of PBS KIDS Series Carl The Collector
Celebrating Autism Acceptance Month with Fun, Learning & Community Support
Oklahoma City, OK – April 12, 2025—In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month, OETA is hosting a free family-friendly screening of Carl The Collector, the PBS KIDS series that centers around neurodiverse friendships and the power of inclusion, in partnership with the Metropolitan Library System. The event takes place Saturday, April 12, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the Northwest Library located at 5600 NW 122nd Street in Oklahoma City.
The event will include:
· A screening of an episode of Carl The Collector
· Hands-on educational activities for children and families
· A featured talk by Dr. Hokehe Eko, a leading ADHD & Autism pediatrician, sharing practical strategies for navigating the world of special needs.
This event is perfect for children and their caregivers to enjoy together, and a great way to connect with local resources that empower neurodiverse families.
About Carl The Collector
Carl The Collector follows the everyday adventures of Carl, a warm-hearted autistic raccoon who lives in Fuzzytown and loves collecting everything from bottle caps to sweaters. Carl’s exceptional attention to detail and unique way of thinking help him and his friends creatively solve problems in their community.
His friends include:
• Sheldon, a kind beaver with strong empathy and social smarts
• Lotta, a quiet, autistic fox with hypersensitivity and artistic talent
• Nico & Arugula, spirited twin bunnies learning to embrace their individuality
• Forrest, an energetic squirrel always ready for fun
