OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The assistant Oklahoma City fire chief who served as the spokesman for the department following the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building has died.

District Chief Benny Fulkerson says retired former assistant chief Jon Hansen died Friday morning at his home. He was 65. No cause of death was immediately released.

Hansen became one of the chief spokesmen in the aftermath of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building that killed 168 people. He later wrote a book about his experiences during that time.

Hansen retired in 1999 after nearly 26 years with the fire department.
