Join OETA for Special Events Across Oklahoma This October
October is shaping up to be an exciting month at OETA, with special events bringing families, history lovers, music fans and public television supporters together across Oklahoma.
From a family adventure with Sesame Street at the Oklahoma City Zoo to special screenings celebrating two legendary Oklahoma storytellers, Woody Guthrie and Jimmy Webb, there are plenty of opportunities to experience OETA beyond the screen.

Sesame Street: The Great Elephant Adventure
Saturday, Oct. 3 | 9am to noon | Oklahoma City Zoo | Oklahoma City
Pack your sense of adventure and join OETA and the Oklahoma City Zoo for a special Sesame Street experience for preschoolers and their families!
Enjoy a screening of Sesame Street: The Great Elephant Adventure, featuring Elmo, Abby Cadabby and their friends from NATURE as they travel to Kenya, meet an adopted elephant and discover incredible wildlife along the way.
Families can also enjoy special zoo activities and animal caretaker chats. Guests age 3 and older will receive a complimentary Oklahoma City Zoo admission voucher to use on a future visit through March 1, 2027.

Back In Time: Woody Guthrie

Celebrate the life, music and enduring legacy of one of Oklahoma’s most influential voices with OETA and the Oklahoma History Center.
Join us for a special premiere screening of Back In Time: Woody Guthrie – Bound for Glory, an OETA original documentary exploring the experiences, places and people that shaped Guthrie and the songs that would resonate around the world.
Following the screening, stay for a special panel conversation exploring Guthrie’s Oklahoma roots and lasting cultural impact.

Jimmy Webb: American Songwriter – Tulsa Preview Screening
Tuesday, Oct. 20 | Circle Cinema | Tulsa
Join OETA for a special preview screening celebrating Oklahoma native and legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb.
Filmed at the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at Oklahoma State University, Great Performances: Jimmy Webb – American Songwriter celebrates the remarkable career and music of the Grammy Award-winning songwriter behind classics including “Wichita Lineman,” “MacArthur Park” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix.”
The program features performances by Jimmy Webb, Vince Gill, Lyle Lovett, Ashley Campbell, Sheléa and Ryan Shaw. Following the screening, guests are invited to stay for an onstage conversation and reception.
The concert marks the first Great Performances program filmed in Oklahoma and premieres nationally on PBS Friday, Oct. 30.

OETA brings the celebration to Oklahoma City with a special preview screening of Great Performances: Jimmy Webb – American Songwriter.
Experience this Oklahoma-filmed national PBS production on the big screen before its Oct. 30 broadcast premiere. Featuring Jimmy Webb alongside Vince Gill, Lyle Lovett, Ashley Campbell, Sheléa and Ryan Shaw, the program celebrates Webb’s extraordinary songwriting career and the music that has connected with audiences for generations.
Following the screening, guests can enjoy a special onstage conversation about Webb, his music and the making of this landmark Oklahoma production.
