Join us for an exclusive screening and art-show as OETA collaborates with Sailor & the Dock to present a special screening of the latest episode from Gallery America, OETA’s award winning series dedicated to telling the stories of Oklahoma’s visual and performing talents and culture. Join alongside Oklahoma artists and their work to enjoy the first screening of “Cowgirl Artists of America”, featuring Tulsa-based painter Megan Wimberley.
Megan grew up in Oklahoma and Texas with horses and drew inspiration from her family’s Western lifestyle for her art, but noticed a lack of female representation both on and behind the canvas of Western art. She then founded Cowgirl Artists of America to offer mentorship and insight to women artists across the globe in the Western genre. This episode of Gallery America will follow her as she photographs her cousin, a horse trainer, then creates paintings that celebrate the work and contribution of women in the West and follow her as she mentors artists from her Tulsa home.
Don't miss the chance to enjoy this episode alongside its subjects and other local artists before it airs later that night at 7pm. Stay after the screening for a discussion from Gallery America host Robert Reid, subject Megan Wimberley and more as you enjoy the art!
