Peruse the Shelves of the New York Public Library in Ex Libris

With 92 locations throughout Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, the New York Public Library is one of the greatest knowledge institutions in the world. Serving a diverse population in America’s most cosmopolitan of cities, the New York Public Library stands as an institution that welcomes cultural exchange and learning.

Ex Libris – The New York Public Library airs at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4 on OETA. This film, by 87-year-old documentarian Frederick Wiseman, takes viewers behind the scenes of this 123-year-old place dedicated to that most democratic of ideals, the right to be informed.

Critics have hailed Ex Libris as an engaging look at the massive scale of the New York Public Library, and, a heartwarming examination of human curiosity.

Continuing the bibliophilic theme, voting is still open for The Great American Read. Vote for your favorite book from a list of America’s 100 best-loved novels at OETA.tv. And, find out the winning book during The Great American Read Grand Finale, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23 on OETA.

And finally, OETA will feature Facebook Live coverage of the Library of Congress National Book Festival, hosted by PBS Books, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Saturday, Sept. 1 at facebook.com/OETAOK.
