Gallery America Looks at the World through the Eyes of Dean Wilhite

Email share

Artists tend to see the world around them very differently than most of us. Through their creative lens, they see beauty in the everyday. The disorder and entropy of an old, abandoned house. The shadow cast by clouds on an empty field. Even a bank…that’s right, a bank.

On the July episode of Gallery America, producer Susan Cadot introduces us to an Oklahoma artist better known by his work, than by his name. However, any Oklahoman who watches TV has likely seen the work of Dean Wilhite. The July episode of Gallery America premieres at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 4.

By day, Wilhite is the senior art director for a large Oklahoma advertising agency. More than 15 years ago, Wilhite created a series of commercials for Bank First that have won numerous awards and enchanted viewers across the state.

By night, Wilhite paints in a studio attic at his home, creating large works of Americana that are even more captivating than his commercials.

Join Gallery America this month and see the world through the eyes of Dean Wilhite.
