Education Matters Programming Bulletin: Sept. 19, 2019

The Oklahoma State Department of Education has joined forces with the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) to produce the monthly broadcast Education Matters.

Education Matters, hosted by Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister, will focus on important topics and key initiatives for public education across the state.

This month’s episode, airing 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, will focus on social studies in Oklahoma’s classrooms, including new academic standards.

This month’s guests include two current legislators who are also former teachers:

  • Amy Curran, executive director, Generation Citizen
  • Dr. Bob Blackburn, executive director, Oklahoma Historical Society
  • Julian Guererro, executive director for American Indian Education, Oklahoma State Department of Education

Education Matters airs monthly on OETA every third Thursday at 7 p.m. and is rebroadcast the following Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
