Friday, May 2

7pm                       ONR – A botched execution at the state penitentiary in McAlester puts Oklahoma and the death penalty under scrutiny. ONR’s Lis Exon was one of the witnesses… We talk to Director of Corrections Robert Patton about the investigation of the event… A new report on required improvements to the state’s foster care program shows there’s not a lot of progress being made… Efforts continue to finish the long-stalled American Indian Cultural Center and Museum… With a revenue shortfall facing budget negotiators, we look at how much the lottery is contributing to education funding… Quapaw digs out after a deadly tornado… We discuss news from the capitol with eCapitol News Director Shawn Ashley… We meet a leading “digital fantasy” artist who calls Oklahoma home… And, Ted Streuli, Editor of The Journal Record, reviews the week in business.

10:30pm               DOCTOR WHO “Nightmare in Silver” – Cybermen at an old, abandoned amusement park. Yikes! Sorry folks, the moose out front shoulda told ya.

PENNSYLVANIA BALLET AT 50 – If you’re looking for this program about the anniversary, it will air Monday morning at 5am on OETA HD. It will also air on O K L A tomorrow night at midnight.

 

Saturday, May 3

7:30am                 SUNUP --  SUNUP discusses the option of returning cattle to wheat fields that will not be harvested; wind gusts and plant available water; wheat tour and wheat prices; pregnancy checks for replacement heifers after rebreeding season; 2014 cattle herd expansion; young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial impact on Oklahoma’s economy; portable devices to monitor localized weather; and an invitation to watch the premiere “One Hundred Years of Oklahoma Extension.”

8pm                       IL DIVO: LIVE IN LONDON – The operatic pop group Il Divo performs their hits and new material at an intimate concert. (This was produced as a pledge special. Videos are not available in the standard way.)

O K L A at midnight – PENNSYLVANIA BALLET AT 50 -- The anniversary of the Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia is celebrated with performance footage.

O K L A – 1pm – CIVIL WAR: THE UNTOLD STORY, Pt 2 – This five-part series examines this conflict through the lens of the Western Campaign. Narrated by Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth McGovern (Cora from Downton Abbey). Part 3 airs next Sunday on O K L A at 1pm.

10:30pm               WRITING OUT LOUD “Mia Farrow” -- An interview with actress, humanitarian and author of WHAT FALLS AWAY.

 

Tuesday, May 6

7pm                       GREAT PERFORMANCES SPECIAL “Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden” – Michael Bublé performs at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The set includes "Sway," "Save the Last Dance for Me," "How Sweet It Is" and selections from his 2009 "Crazy Love" album. Also: behind-the-scenes footage. OETA received special permission to air this program since Michael Buble will be coming to Oklahoma later this year. 

8:30pm                 PIONEERS OF TELEVISION “Acting Funny” –The backstage techniques of Robin Williams, Tina Fey and more great comedic actors are revealed. (This will repeat on O K L A on Wednesday at 7pm.)

9:30pm                 SECRETS OF THE DEAD “The Lost Gardens of Babylon” -- The existence, location and construction of the spectacular Hanging Gardens of Babylon are detailed. (This will repeat on O K L A on Wednesday at 8pm.)

10:30pm               OKLAHOMA CAPITOL CONNECTION #210 -- OETA Executive Director Dan Schiedel sits down with guests: Representative Harold Wright and Senator Tom Ivester

FRONTLINE was a repeat episode tonight. We needed to preempt it in order to air the Michael Buble special. FRONTLINE “Hunting the Nightmare Bacteria” can be seen on O K L A Wednesday night at 9pm. It’s also repeating several times in the overnight schedule on OETA HD.

Thursday, May 8

7pm                       100 YEARS OF OKLAHOMA EXTENSION -- A look at the history of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service and the people and programs that make it a vital service to Oklahoma today.

8pm                       MIDSOMER MURDERS “Death of a Hollow Man, Pt 2” -- A local dramatic production of Amadeus reveals a backstage world of intrigue, passion and murder.

9pm                       DOC MARTIN “Cats and Sharks” -- Martin plans to leave Portwenn to resume his career as a surgeon after his baby's christening. (Just two weeks away from the premiere of Season six!)

10pm                     DEATH IN PARADISE “An Unhelpful Aid” -- Dwayne and Fidel are tasked with solving the apparently impossible murder of a local diver.
