ONR PROGRAMMING BULLETIN FOR January 25, 2019

Email share

Oklahoma’s only statewide news broadcast, the Oklahoma News Report (ONR), airs 7 p.m. CST, every Friday night on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA). This award-winning broadcast offers an in-depth exploration of news and issues affecting all Oklahomans.

Some of the stories covered on this week’s Oklahoma News Report include:

  • ·         The annual budget summit by the Oklahoma Policy Institute has a different focus this year. That’s due mainly to the currently improved revenues for state government.
  • ·         The nonprofit Oklahoma Academy is calling on lawmakers to remake the state’s tax structure. The Norman based organization has issued a position paper advocating for what they are calling updates to the state’s tax system that was put in place more than one-hundred years ago.
  • ·         A criminal justice reform movement is underway to make the changes put in place by State Question 780 retroactive. This would allow for the release of hundreds of inmates currently serving sentences for non-violent drug offences.
  • ·         A new state commission created by the Oklahoma Legislature to find ways to improve operations of state agencies has been holding closed-door meetings with public officials to disclose some of their findings. It is known that many of their recommendations involve increased spending.

Join us Friday night for these and other stories, business news and more on ONR.
