OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma's mental health agency says services will be reduced for more than 73,000 Oklahomans when it cuts another $13 million from its budget.
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services said Friday it's the second time this year that a revenue failure has forced it to trim its budget for the fiscal year that ends June 30. The agency has already slashed $22.8 million from operations and services since January.
The latest cuts will reduce funding for contracted mental health and substance abuse services by $7 million statewide. It will also force rate cuts for provider networks throughout Oklahoma, including cuts to rates paid for mental health inpatient care.
In addition, the cap placed on psychotherapy services for individuals in treatment will be tightened.
