The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) holds its annual community appreciation event, OETA Day, Wednesday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, Oklahoma City, 73105 (click for directions). This free event is open to the public and family-friendly for children of all ages.
OETA is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016 and will celebrate its April 13 birthday with a special cake-cutting ceremony with Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin at 11 a.m. PBS KIDS characters Daniel Tiger and Curious George are available for meet and greets with children throughout the event and several story time sessions are scheduled throughout the event with guest readers from the State Capitol.
OETA’s in-house digitally produced series What’s the Deal? is featured as host Jessi Crino offers STEAM-related activities for children in attendance. OETA Movie Club fans can also take photos with the infamous popcorn popper and visit with OETA and independent producers to learn more about Oklahoma-centric shows airing on the network.
The OETA selfie station gives fans an opportunity to take pictures with their favorite OETA character cutouts and show backdrops, including Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Mister Rogers and Nature Cat. Please bring your own camera for the selfie station experience.
Thanks to our friends at the Oklahoma History Center, admission to the museum's galleries will be free of charge for those that attend OETA Day during the event's scheduled time.
