In this episode of the ONR, we explore school security, and what measures lawmakers and educators are considering to keep area schools safe. In other nearby schools, the problem is less that of security and more of administrative funding. With a cap on administrative spending, some small school districts are considering merging administrations to save money. In our continuing drought coverage, we visit Altus-Lugert Lake in southwestern Oklahoma, where low water levels are affecting area agriculture. In this week's ONR, Oklahoma's murder rate reached near-record highs in 2012, while Oklahoma's other major metro area, Tulsa, was at lower rate than usual. We look at what's causing the disparity in numbers, and what's being done to prevent violent deaths across the state. The Pinnacle Plan meant to restructure the Oklahoma Department of Human Services went into effect last July, but it still has a ways to go to be fully implemented. Multiple Sclerosis can strike anyone at anytime, but a cure remains elusive. While drugs are available to slow the disease's progression, the cost remains out of reach for some. Plus, the Supreme Court steps into one of Oklahoma's ongoing water wars, Organizational Day, and a look at a historic Tulsa building, on this ONR.
