He launches a new program, Moyers and Company, this month. It will air on OETA Saturdays at 5 pm, beginning January 14th. We recently talked about his new show and his return to public television.

Bob Barry Obit

For more than fifty years, Bob Barry delivered play-by-play of collegiate sports in Oklahoma. He was the voice of OU and OSU football, and OU, OSU and Tulsa University basketball. In his long career at KFOR-TV, he won fifteen Sportscaster of the Year awards. Among his colleagues and legion of fans he became known as "the legend." Bob Barry died on October 29th, just seven months after retiring as "voice of the Sooners." Three years ago, in an interview for our "television pioneers" program, big bob discussed his broadcasting career.

After retiring in April of last year, Bill Moyers is planning a return to television. The renowned journalist, who has won more than thirty Emmy awards, will launch a new program, "Moyers and Company", in January. The program will be broadcast nationally, and will be seen on OETA Saturdays at 5 pm, beginning in January. Moyers was born in Hugo and grew up in nearby Marshall, Texas. He spoke at Oklahoma City University this week, and while he was here, Dick Pryor spoke with him about his new show.

Black History Greenwood District (4:36)

Award winning Photojournalist, Don Thompson, has spent his life documenting Tulsa's Greenwood District. Once known as America's "Black Wall Street," the community was destroyed in the 1921 Tulsa race riots. Thompson's poignant photographs are the subject of the book, "Hush; Somebody is Calling My Name." One of the book's many admirers is none other than President Obama.
