Oklahoma was a wild frontier when a charismatic leader with a long white beard crossed over from Arkansas in his covered wagon. The Reverend Joseph S. Murrow organized more than seventy-five Baptist churches, baptized more than two thousand Native Americans and indoctrinated men into a secret order. That order was Freemasonry.
As the state grew, men from every walk in life joined private fraternal groups. The Freemasons, the Odd Fellows and the Knights of Columbus offer the opportunity for friendship and personal growth, but behind closed doors.
OETA's award winning documentary series Stateline takes a look into the private world of the state's Secret Societies.
