In Oklahoma nature strikes quick. Flash floods, tornadoes, earthquakes. Wait. Earthquakes?
Oklahoma has many faults, and one of them runs beneath the town of Jones. What has been the bane of Californians is now shaking things up in eastern Oklahoma County. About a year and a half ago folks in Jones began feeling the earth move under their feet, small little tremors that would probably go unnoticed in Los Angeles and San Francisco rattled nerves in this otherwise stable community.
Researchers at the Oklahoma Geological Survey say there’s been a “swarm” of earthquakes over the past year. They are busy trying to answer the big question: why? There's no shortage of ideas on what could be causing the earthquakes, from oil and gas drilling to a Biblical “end of times.”
