While jobs for recent grads are hard to come by, a college education makes a big difference in the level of wages and the long-term economic impact on the state. It's a small group of lawmakers, but the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus has long been part of the policy-making process at the state capitol. Four members of the caucus join us to discuss their goals, priorities, and reaction to the latest news from the capitol: Representative Anastasia Pittman of Oklahoma City, who is the new chair of the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus; Senator Constance Johnson of Oklahoma City's Forest Park, whose term as chair ended just a few days ago; and from Tulsa, Senator Jamar Shumate.

School Safety Commission
Less than a week after the deadly shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, legislative leaders formed the non-partisan Oklahoma Commission on School Security. The commission moved quickly to develop findings and recommendations for Oklahoma schools. 22 people served on that commission and three of them join us: Eleanor Goetzinger, Behavior Specialist for Oklahoma City Public Schools; Roger Webb, Headmaster of Oklahoma Christian School and former President of the University of Central Oklahoma; and, Kim Carter, director of the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security.

Legislative Leaders: Oklahoma House of Representatives
The last few days have been quiet on the floors of the Oklahoma House and Senate - with only a few bills heard in both chambers. But, with less than two months left in the first regular session of the 54th Oklahoma Legislature, the sausage-making that is the legislative process grinds on. Joining us to discuss the latest at the capitol are leaders from the state House of Representatives. House Minority Leader Scott Inman, democrat from Del City. And Speaker Pro Tem Mike Jackson, republican from Enid, filling in for Speaker of the House T.W. Shannon, who was originally scheduled to be on the program but was unable to make it.

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson
He was Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell from 2002 to 2005. Before joining the State Department, he served 31 years in the U.S. Army and was special assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. while at the state department, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson helped make the case for waging war in Iraq. Since leaving the Bush administration, he has been an outspoken critic of the war and American foreign policy in the region. On February 5th, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson spoke at the University of Central Oklahoma. I talked to him that day about Iran, Syria, Israel, U.S. foreign policy, the military and more.
