Email share

What’s more fun than a movie featuring Daniel Tiger? Why, new neighbors of course!

The Daniel Tiger Movie: Won’t You Be Our Neighbor premiers 8:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17 on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA). There will be new songs and, of course, new neighbors. The Daniel Tiger Movie introduces new neighbors, the Platypus family. Daniel makes a new friend in Jodi Platypus when he helps her find her favorite book after it’s lost.

The movie also explores themes like, meeting someone who looks different and how it feels to be the new kid.

The following two episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood are also new at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 18 & 20, and will feature Jodi Platypus as Daniel helps her through her first day of school.

2018 is a special year for Daniel Tiger, as it’s the 50th anniversary of when his dad, Daniel Striped Tiger, and his dad’s old friend Fred Rogers first teamed up for Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.

In honor of the premiere of The Daniel Tiger Movie, OETA is having a social media contest, in partnership with the Tulsa Zoo and the Oklahoma City Zoo. Just follow OETA on either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and share your personal story of friendship. Make sure and use the hashtag(s) #MyOETA, and the name the closest zoo with either #OKCZoo or #TulsaZoo. We’ll pick two winners who will each receive a prize pack and family passes to the closest zoo.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is the most-streamed show on PBS Kids.
