Solid Art Premieres This Week

Email share

Gallery brings you the art of John Wolfe and Joe Slack in the episode “Solid Art” premiering this week. John Wolfe is a retired educator, painter, and sculptor. His paintings incorporate the complicated geometry of buildings with a mix of cool and warm colors. He often finds inspiration from Oklahoma buildings and architecture. His works cover a variety of Oklahoma images such as: storefront signs and cityscapes. Wolfe does not include human figures in his paintings, but he does mimic humanity abstractly in his sculpture. His sculptures typically include a clay head and hands displayed on weathered wood; they are one of a kind. Wolfe’s sculptures range in size from massive works to small scale pieces. Wolfe’s work is on display in galleries across the State.

Joe Slack is a quirky character and his personality shines through in this episode. He is a wood and metal sculptor with a unique style. Slack adds a touch of humor to every work he produces and likes to leave the interpretation of the art up to the viewer. His metal works are often vibrant and colorful while his wood sculpture often keeps its natural tone. He is self-taught in metal and wood sculpting and uses powers tools and a power carver to create his designs.

John Wolfe and Joe Slack sometimes work together on projects and often ask each other for artistic feedback. And that’s exactly why Gallery paired these 2 artists together for this episode. Be sure to watch OETA at 7 PM this Thursday for the premiere of “Solid Art.”
