British drama THE CRIMSON FIELD will debut in the U.S. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on OETA. The six-part series premieres the same night as the MASTERPIECE romantic drama POLDARK, furthering PBS’ role as the Sunday night destination for drama.

Created, written and executive produced by Sarah Phelps (“Great Expectations,” “EastEnders”) and directed by David Evans (“Downton Abbey,” “One Night”), Richard Clark (“Doctor Who,” “Life on Mars”) and Thaddeus O’Sullivan (“Silent Witness,” “Single-Handed”), THE CRIMSON FIELD relates one of the Great War’s untold stories: World War I’s frontline medics. The series follows the lives of volunteer nurses Kitty Trevelyan, played by Oona Chaplin (“Game of Thrones,” “The Hour”), and Sister Joan Livesey, played by Suranne Jones (“Scott & Bailey,” “A Touch of Cloth”), as a tented field hospital on the coast of France becomes a frontier between the battlefield and the home front. The hospital evolves into asocial battleground as well —the old rules, hierarchies and class distinctions against a new way of thinking.

The enthralling series regularly attracted more than six million viewers in the UK with its riveting storylines and powerhouse cast. Created by BBC Drama Production for BBC One, THE CRIMSON FIELD is produced by Annie Tricklebank (“The Lady Vanishes,” “Lark Rise to Candleford”) with Sarah Phelps and Anne Pivcevic (“The Lady Vanishes,” “Great Expectations”) as executive producers.

Full episodes of THE CRIMSON FIELD will be available for viewing on the PBS Video Portal for a limited time after each national broadcast.
