Railroad Crossing Safety

Posted by Steve Bennett on

State officials have launched an effort to improve safety at the state's more than 3,700 railroad crossings.  Last year, eight people were killed and 13 injured in accidents at rail crossings.  Under the plan announced Tuesday, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will spend 100 million dollars to improve crossings at more than 300 locations.  ODOT currently spends about 8 million dollars a year in rail safety program funds.
