Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) Gallery America host Susan Cadot has been named a recipient of a 2016 Governor’s Arts Award, the Oklahoma Arts Council announced Tuesday. The Governor's Award recognizes longtime leadership and significant contributions to the arts.

“Susan’s passion for the arts is evident in the work she puts in to ensure each episode of
Gallery America showcases the diversity of the arts in Oklahoma,” said OETA Vice President of Content Production Bill Perry. “Her involvement in the arts extends beyond her work at OETA. She routinely uses her personal time to seek out and attend exhibitions, visit galleries and promote cultural events. I’m thrilled that her efforts are recognized with this wonderful, well-deserved honor.”

Mary Fallin will present the awards during a special ceremony at the Oklahoma state Capitol Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. in the fourth floor rotunda. A reception will follow outside the Betty Price Gallery in the Capitol's first floor rotunda. The event is free and open to the public.

Cadot currently produces and hosts
Gallery America, which airs statewide on OETA and is available online through the national Public Broadcasting Service video system and companion applications. Gallery America has explored Oklahoma talent from artists Klair Larason and Brent Learned to Stillwater crooner Wade Tower and Route 66’s Auto Trim Museum.

Cadot began her career at OETA working on the current issue documentary program
Stateline. She transitioned to Gallery, the pre-cursor to Gallery America, in 2007. Cadot has won several regional Emmy Awards for her work onGallery. During its run, the show featured many Oklahoma artists, including Rick Sinnett, Skip Hill, John Wolfe and the remarkable Greg Burns. She also profiled many important artistic organizations like OKC Improv, Ballet Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Visual Artists Coalition and Summerstock Productions.

Governor’s Arts Awards recipients are selected from submitted nominations by members of the Governor’s Arts Awards Selection Committee.
